The Screaming Moderate

Trump can't even jump over his own low bar

For nearly 10 years, I’ve written posts about Donald J. Trump. Always, I’ve tried to take the approach of the journalist I was once, the political strategist/spokesman I once was and the human being I hope I am.

I’ve pointed out what I think are his faults, what my non-trained clinician self thinks are his personality flaws but reported based on what experts say, and my reactions to his behavior, comments and policies. I have tried not to react only instinctively to his many crazy comments because I do think there are personality disorders at play and, now, even distinct signs of an aging mind losing its battles with reality.

Those days are over.

It is past time that those closest to Trump spill their guts and tell the citizens of this country – who put their faith, trust and lives in his hands – what the hell is going on with him.

The time is well past for being politically loyal, for saying only things that Trump will like -- but know you're lying through your teeth.

He had an MRI. I’ve had them too, because doctors were trying to diagnose issues I’ve had with TIAs (mini-strokes) and stroke. There was always a diagnostic reason for my many MRIs. And, trust me, unlike Trump’s public claims – I always knew why they were putting me through the MRI machine. That's serious business.

That blemish on his hands? What the heck is that about? His people claim it’s from him shaking so many hands. This is a germophobe who probably has shaken fewer hands than any President in history. It could be as simple as psoriasis or eczema or an age spot or marks made by an infusion port.

When you’re the President of the United States and having MRIs or obvious medical issues – the people of the country have the absolute right to know what’s going on.

Toss in personality disorders or, more importantly, signs of dementia – the people of this country have a right and a need to know.

The President’s Cabinet and the congressional leadership, at minimum -- those folks ought to be demanding to know because they have an obligation to know and, if serious, do something about it.

Trump today blamed the brutal murder of Rob Reiner and his wife on Reiner himself and his Trump-diagnosed “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” Trump's post struck a new low even for the low bar he set for himself.  His post today:

“A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS. He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”

The Reiners’ son was arrested today in connection with the murders – a tragic story.

If Trump won’t release honest information on his MRIs and health condition, the Republican leadership should be demanding it.

I know, I know, they’re too afraid of a Trump-ordered primary against them to do anything.

It’s one thing not to quit a job because you can’t lose the money to support your family, the position many Americans with jobs are in.

It’s another thing to be afraid to lose a job simply because you’re afraid to lose that job.

How is that a job worth  having?
